University Middle School Parental Involvement Policy

Parents will:

  1. Have monthly, bi-monthly, or quarterly workshops with University Middle School Counselors/HSSC/Dean focusing on academics, social development, conflict resolution, and time management skills.
  2. Have the opportunity to attend a presentation on assessment data at the November PTA meeting at University Middle School.
  3. Have the opportunity to participate on the School Leadership Council and School-Based Behavioral Threat Assessment Team
  4. Have access to PowerSchool to monitor their child’s academic progress routinely.
  5. Have access to ClassDojo to communicate in their native language with their child’s teachers and faculty within the building.
  6. Have the opportunity to visit their child’s classroom to observe academic performance with a minimum of 24-hour notice (business hours) to the school principal.
  7. Have the opportunity to develop academic intervention plans through the Intervention and Referral Services Committee (I & RS).
  8. Receive correspondence (flyers, broadcast calls, newsletters, ClassDojo) from administration, promptly, about events and activities to expand parental and community participation.
  9. Have the opportunity to participate in activities and events, with their children, that are designed to motivate students through our Positive Behavior Support In Schools (PBSIS)/ClassDojo programs.
  10. Have the opportunity to attend parent workshops and become familiar with the technology that will enable parents to assist their children.
  11. Have the opportunity to meet with the administration and faculty members every month at our Community Chat meetings that will help during the school day to discuss matters that will assist in the academic and social achievement of their child.
  12. Be invited to showcase their professions and/or talents with our students during our bi-monthly Friday Night Light Events from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. on the first Friday of each month.
