Dear UMS Families, Students, Staff, and Community,

My name is Leon Miller, and I am honored to introduce myself as the new Principal of University Middle School. It is a privilege to join the UMS community, and I am excited to begin the 2026–2027 school year alongside our students, families, staff, and community partners. I believe that education is the foundation for success, and I am committed to creating a school environment where every student is challenged, supported, valued, and given opportunities to grow.

This year, our message is simple and powerful: #VALUESmatter, Voice, Accountability, Leadership, Understanding, Excellence, and Self-Control will guide how we learn, lead, and treat one another each day. These values will shape our expectations, our relationships, and the culture we build together.Our goal is to create a safe, supportive, inclusive, and academically focused environment where students feel connected, staff feel empowered, families feel welcomed, and excellence becomes the standard.

We will continue to expand opportunities for our Eagles through rigorous instruction, clubs, athletics, student leadership, the arts, enrichment, and meaningful experiences both inside and outside of the classroom. Every student should have an opportunity to discover their strengths, develop their talents, and find their place within the UMS community.

As your new principal, I look forward to building strong relationships, listening to our school community, celebrating our successes, and working together to move University Middle School forward. To our new students and families, welcome to the UMS family! To our returning Eagles, welcome back! I am excited about what we will accomplish together and confident that this will be a year of growth, achievement, opportunity, and Eagle pride.
