Welcome Chancellor Avenue School To The 2020-2021 School Year

Portrait of Mr. ChaseGreetings Chancellor Avenue School Family, I want to welcome you to the 2020-2021 school year. This is truly a year of transition. First, let me introduce myself. I am Hubert Ato-Bakari Chase. As the new principal here at Chancellor, I am excited, humbled and honored to serve as the educational leader of this institution. Along with Dr. Sharon Holmes, Assistant Principal, we plan on building off of the incredible work of my predecessor, colleague and friend, Dr. Winston Jackson. He laid a solid foundation for academic achievement and social-emotional development in a culturally relevant and inclusive learning environment. We plan to continue this work.

In addition, the challenges posed by the Covid 19 Pandemic requires educators to transition away from a conventional instruction model into one that features remote virtual learning and hybrid schedules. This new reality requires innovative and creative forms of instruction. However the mission remains the same: provide high quality education. To accomplish this mission, every stakeholder which includes, administrators, teachers, counselors, support professionals, security and custodians must do their part.

This requires commitment, communication and collaboration so that all aspects of the educational process is addressed. I pledge to work tirelessly on your behalf in order to make this happen.

In conclusion, I want to thank you for your commitment to Chancellor Avenue School. Each and every one of you have an important role to play. I know you understand this reality. There’s an African proverb and principle called Ubuntu which says; “I am because we are…” This principle embodies the concept of team. The phrase is open-ended because the answer lies with you. It could read; “I am successful because we are successful, and because we are successful, I am successful.” Thus, this principal will govern our transition into this new school year and forge our collective vision for the academic achievement and social-emotional development of our scholars.

Let’s get it done!

Thank you,

Ato-Bakari Chase,

Principal,

Chancellor Avenue School
