Welcome Augusta Preschool Academy To The 2020-2021 School Year

Portrait of Rose GordanWelcome to Augusta Preschool Academy. I hope this letter finds you and your loved ones healthy and safe. The 2020-21 school year is upon us and our entire staff is excited to support you and your child. We believe in the school community working together to ensure the academic and social success of all students. The entire school community’s goal is to support our young learners in becoming socially, emotionally, physically, and academically successful.

We look forward to the moment when we can welcome our new and returning families to our school in-person. Until then, we have been working hard to prepare for this online learning adventure which will begin on Wednesday, September 9.

Although many of our traditional back-to-school events will look different this year, our teachers are excited to meet all of you. We will share information soon regarding what your virtual “Meet the Teacher” will look like. Students are expected to be engaged in learning online live with their teacher; however, teachers will be recording their online learning sessions to allow for students to view and complete class assignments at times that work best for their family. Keep in mind, however, that the more often students can interact in the live sessions with their classmates, the better connected they will feel.  We understand that every family will have unique scheduling needs due to parent work hours, etc. Please work with your child’s teacher to determine what will work best for your family.

Augusta’s mission is to improve the social emotional and academic achievement of our learners through a combination of critical thinking and life skills. Our goal is to lay the groundwork for a solid educational foundation by developing the child physically, emotionally, socially and intellectually. We are proud of our dedicated teachers and support staff. All of our teachings are certified in early childhood education. We are an inclusive school, offering services that accommodate the individual needs of all learners. Within our program, we offer general education, bilingual education focusing on Spanish and French-Creole, inclusion education, and special education with a major concentration in Autism.

This year, we will pay particular attention to the social and emotional needs of our students, building strong relationships in this new environment and ensuring their comfort as an online learner. Additionally, you will soon be receiving information on the process to log-in and connect on the first day of school. Your child’s teacher will let you know what school supplies are needed for class when virtual learning begins. We do not want to add any additional burden to our families at this time concerning supplies. We are committed to building an ever-stronger village that will support the needs of each learner and challenge each student to learn and grow at his/her own optimal rate.  Parent involvement is essential to the success of our program. We offer various parent-child activities, PTA membership and monthly virtual parent workshops.

Please expect to receive additional communication in the days ahead about the start of school. We appreciate you for your perseverance and support during this unprecedented time. Remember, we are all in this new online learning adventure together, and we can’t wait to connect with you to begin our school year!

Thank you for your patience and support as we get ready to launch this virtual learning experience. We are looking forward to a spectacular school year.  From our family to yours, thank you for choosing Augusta Preschool Academy.
