“Every student has the superpower of striving for success!”

“Having a superpower has nothing to do with the ability to fly or jump, or superhuman strength. The truest superpowers are the ones we all possess: willpower, integrity, and most importantly, courage.” ~ Jason Reynolds

Welcome to the Berkeley Terrace Elementary School where we are building our community one student at a time. We believe that every student has a special superpower that will secure their success, and our jobs as educators and educational leaders is to ensure that every child rises to the full level of their ability and unleashes the superpower within.

At Berkeley Terrace Elementary School, we provide our scholars with 21st Century skills and competencies in both academics and the arts.  We are uncompromising in our focus on rigor and student engagement.  Our determination is to create self-directed learners who are exposed to diverse experiences, engaged in the optimized use of technology, and coached by caring servant-leader adults to maximize their potential.

This past school year has been immensely challenging as we grappled with a global pandemic, virtual classes, and heightened concerns for the health and safety of our loved ones, but as a community, we rose to the occasion. We are grateful for parents, grandparents, and caregivers who became home educators and ensured that their children logged on every day.  We take this time to salute our first responders; many of them are parents of our beloved Berkeley students.

As we look to the 2021-2022 school year, we endeavor to partner with our parents and community to build the hopes and expand the dreams of our students. We believe that our students are the future architects, engineers, scientists, inventors, and leaders of the next age in human development. Therefore, our goals are clear. Firstly, to champion the cause of providing a thorough and efficient education to our children that adequately prepares them for college, career, and the real world. Secondly, to inspire, motivate, and serve our students and community. Thirdly, to support our families with the care, compassion, and empathy that derives from passionate and devoted servant leaders.

Thanks to our diligent and hardworking staff, Berkeley Terrace Elementary School remains a beacon of educational light in our historic neighborhood, and we look forward with eager anticipation for high academic achievement as our students return to full in-person instruction this school year.
