Welcome to Mount Vernon Avenue Elementary School, Home of the Eagles!

The mission Mount Vernon Avenue Elementary School is to inspire and instruct all students to think critically, creatively, and responsibly, embrace diversity, and pursue their dreams with purpose. As we enter the 2023-2024 school year, Mount Vernon Avenue Elementary School vision is to create scholarly individuals by providing an exceptional educational environment that fosters critical thinking, citizenship, self-directed learning, and lifelong learners. Our vision and mission stresses the development of the whole child; that is, not just the academic aspect of schooling, but the physical, social, and emotional areas as well.

Mount. Vernon Avenue Elementary School is one out of eight elementary schools in the district of Irvington township. We serve approximately 575 scholars. For the 2023-2024 school year, we will focus our attention on small group instruction, with the effective use of learning centers, and social-emotional learning. There are numerous opportunities available for our students to participate in academic and extracurricular activities that will assist them in becoming more knowledgeable, skillful and confident scholars in our society.

At Mount Vernon Avenue Elementary School, we promote a nurturing environment for learning and growth. We take pride in our beautiful school and have high expectations for each scholar. Our scholars exemplify kindness, compassion, and resilience. This year, our motto, “Mount Vernon: Where Scholars Learn to SOAR! Success, Ownership, Attitude, Respect Marshall,” will guide us.

Our terrific group of dedicated professionals create an inclusive environment where students can grow and thrive. We treat our students with care, compassion, patience, and respect, and provide students with the highest quality learning environment for their academic success. We believe in fostering a collaborative school environment. Together, we can make a significant difference in the lives of our scholars.

In closing, we eagerly anticipate the opportunity to collaborate with all the exceptional scholars, parents, and stakeholders of Mount Vernon Avenue Elementary School.

Once again, we extend our warmest welcome to you and your family. Together, we are building our community one student at a time!

Sincerely,
