The administration and staff at Chancellor Avenue School welcome you and your child to a new
school year that will be filled with many exciting adventures and educational challenges. At
Chancellor Avenue School, teaching is a serious commitment. Our goal is to help each and
every child reach their full potential. We are counting on our parents to partner with us to make
this year a wonderful and enjoyable experience for our scholars.
The following information highlights significant events and dates that will make a successful
transition to the new school year.

First 3 Days of School
The first day of school is Wednesday, September 7, 2022. It is a half-day of school. All students will meet in the playground to line up with their teachers. They will learn arrival and dismissal procedures on the first day. September 8 & 9, 2022 are also half days.

School Hours of Operation
School hours for scholars are from 8:25 a.m. – 2:50 p.m. The day is filled with rigorous academic classes and electives. The day also includes breakfast and lunch. Your child should be available to experience the entire day of the classroom community. Your child should be dropped off and picked up on time. Lateness compromises the safety of your child because there is less staff after hours. A fine will be assessed for the chronic lateness of child pick-up. There is an aftercare program available at Chancellor Avenue School. The provider will receive your child at the end of the school day from 2:50 PM – 5:45 PM. Please ask for more information.

Covid 19-Protocols
Everyone must wear a mask in the building. The scholars will be encouraged to wash their hands regularly. All students will have a temperature check upon entering the building. Parents must wear masks inside the building to conduct business. If issues and concerns can’t be resolved over the phone, we will offer virtual and in-person meetings.

Office Hours
The office is open Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. The telephone number is (973)399-6858. Teachers are not available during instructional time to meet with parents. You must schedule a time to meet with teachers that does not interfere with their schedule. Your child’s teacher will be contacting you within the next few days and they will provide you with additional ways to contact them, e.g., email, Class Dojo, Remind, etc., so feel free to contact your child’s teacher if you have any questions or concerns. We are here to help!

Lunch Applications
All parents must complete a lunch application regardless of your economic status. You can fill them out online or paper applications. The process is quick and easy. The determination for free and reduced lunch will be much faster because the information is electronic. Please do not delay, complete the application today.

We look forward to working with you and providing your child with the best environment for quality education. Building our community one student at a time!
