Parental Notification of Standardized Assessments

Dear Parents/Guardians,

The Irvington Public Schools administer a variety of assessments to students at different grade levels to gather valuable information about academic performance. These assessments provide important feedback to students, parents/guardians, teachers, and the district, helping us measure progress, inform instruction, and support student achievement.

Some assessments are mandated by the State of New Jersey, while others are administered at the discretion of the district to further support teaching and learning.

The New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE), Office of State Assessments (OSA) coordinates the development and implementation of the statewide assessment program. This program measures student achievement of the New Jersey Student Learning Standards (NJSLS). The NJDOE OSA works collaboratively with school districts to collect and report information on student performance so that instruction can be improved, student learning can be increased, and parents/guardians and the public can better understand the effectiveness of New Jersey’s schools.

In accordance with N.J.S.A. 18A:7C-6.6, parents/guardians are hereby notified that information regarding state assessments, including testing dates, is publicly available through the links below:

Thank you for your continued partnership in supporting student learning.

Sincerely

Dr. April Vauss
Superintendent
