Parents Get Ready For P-EBT!

Hunger Free NJ LogoPandemic EBT – P-EBT for short – helps families buy groceries when students are learning remotely (from home) during COVID. These funds will be available through September 2021 to some students. The state is working on a plan to distribute the funds in the coming months.

Only students approved to receive free/low-cost school meals* may qualify for IP-EBT.
(Using P-EBT WILL NOT hurt a family’s immigration status!)

To qualify for funds when they become available, parents and other caregivers must:

  • Fill out a school meals application, if not already approved or attending a school that provides free meals to all students (CEP). Families that have lost a job or have less income should apply again in case they are now eligible. Contact your school for an application.
  • If your child is already approved to receive free/low-cost meals, check with your school district to make sure your child’s address and birthdate are correct. Remember, you can still receive free school meals if your district is distributing food during the pandemic.
