Greetings Parents and Guardians, I want to warmly welcome you to the 2023-2024 school year at Augusta Preschool Academy. I hope this greeting finds you, your family and your children healthy, safe and ready for the new school year. Our entire staff is excited to support you and your child in beginning their journey into becoming lifelong learners. We believe in the school community working together to ensure the academic and social-emotional success of all students. The entire preschool community’s goal is to ensure each
student receives a firm academic foundation and develop a zest for learning.

The health and safety of everyone in the Augusta Preschool community is of utmost importance. We
have been working hard to prepare our building and classrooms to meet the standards of a safe, and
clean environment. This will support our efforts to create the optimal learning environment for all of
our young learners.

Additionally the Irvington Public School’s website (www.irvington.k2.nj.us) contains a broad array of
information and resources related to the school and district’s procedures, policies and practices .
Augusta Preschool Academy has a dedicated webpage on the site for school specific information.
Please visit our school’s webpage to review our school calendar and keep abreast of events that are
taking place at Augusta Preschool Academy. Also, our Parent Handbook will be available for review;
this document will acquaint you with rules and procedures that, when adhered to, will contribute to
your child’s academic and behavioral success.

Augusta’s mission is to establish the building blocks of academic success in our young scholars. We aim to build an instructional program that accelerates learning for all students, builds on the strengths and interests of each child, involves children in ALL steps of the learning process, and documents students’ growth and development through authentic assessment. Our goal is to provide child-initiated learning experiences, and promote growth in cognitive, physical, social, and emotional areas.

We are proud of our dedicated teachers and support staff. All of our teachers are certified in early
childhood education. We are an inclusive school, offering services that accommodate the individual needs of all learners. Within our program, we offer general education, bilingual education (focusing on Spanish and French-Creole), inclusion education, and special education with a major concentration in Autism.

This year, we will continue to pay attention to the social and emotional needs of our students. We will
plan and work together to create an environment where your child can flourish. The early learning years lay the foundation for children’s educational success in school and in life. We are committed to building an ever-stronger village that will support the needs of each learner and challenge each student to learn and grow at his/her own optimal rate.

Lastly, parent involvement is essential to the success of our program. We offer various parent-child
activities, PTA membership and monthly virtual parent workshops. We highly recommend that you get involved by joining the PTA so that the school-community partnership can be strengthened and we can work collaboratively for the success of your child.

Overall, educating our scholars is a TEAM effort. As we continue our academic journey, we want to thank all of our students, parents, staff and community members for their hard work and dedication. We welcome our students and families to our school community. At year’s end, we hope that we will all enjoy the rewards that will come as a result of our collective efforts to make Augusta Preschool Academy a school of academic excellence.

Thank you and best wishes for an outstanding school year.

Sincerely,
H. Ato-Bakari Chase,
Principal
