Parental Involvement Policy

Parents will:

  1. Attend monthly workshops hosted by the Preschool Social Workers focused on academics, social development, health & safety, and transitions.
  2. Be encouraged to join and actively participate in the Parent/Teacher Association at Augusta Preschool Academy.
  3. Complete a Community Needs Assessment upon entry into the preschool program and an annual school survey in the spring, which informs the school of feelings regarding the programs, activities, workshops and experiences at Augusta.
  4. Attend class presentations and “WOW” experiences throughout the year.
  5. Have the opportunity to participate on the Early Childhood Advisory Council.
  6. Receive progress reports and on-going communications (via telephone, conferences, letters, and ClassDojo) from teachers regarding academic progress.
  7. Have the opportunity to visit classrooms to observe the academic performance of their child with 48 hours’ notice to the school principal.
  8. Participate in school activities, field trips and district-wide initiatives at the preschool level.
  9. Participate collaboratively with the Early Childhood Department Team in the development of their child’s academic and behavioral plans.
  10. Be encouraged to add to cultural experiences throughout the school, read favorite books, sing songs in their native language, share special photos and participate in multicultural crafts.
  11. Be encouraged to maintain Consistent Student Attendance. It is perhaps the single most important part of the parental compact. Please ensure that your child is present at school every day and on time. While we understand that at times students must be absent, please understand that chronic absenteeism can be avoided. This begins with your partnership and continues with the Early Childhood ongoing campaign “Supporting Strong Attendance from the Start: Combating Chronic Absenteeism in Preschool.”
