NJ State regulations, commonly known as Chapter 78, require staff member contributions for benefits. Staff member contributions are made via payroll deductions and are not subject to federal taxes. Please refer to the contribution worksheets (below) to determine your individual cost.
The Irvington Board of Education contracts with Delta Dental of NJ to provide the PPO Plan and the Flagship Plan to eligible employees and their dependents. Coverage under either plan is fully funded by the IBOE. Find out more about the plan benefits and networks, please click below.

The Health Flexible Spending Account (FSA) provides for pre-tax savings on eligible medical, dental and vision expenses that are not completely covered by a benefit plan. Eligible employees may set aside up to $2,500.00 annually to fund their qualified expenses. The FSA includes a benefit debit card that may be used for co-pays in doctor’s offices and at pharmacies. All full time staff members, who are members of either PERS or TPAF, are automatically enrolled a group life insurance plan with Prudential. The cost of life insurance is paid by the staff member through payroll deductions. The benefit amount payable in case of death during active employment is three (3) times the annual salary.
The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is a benefit that is fully funded by the Irvington Board of Education, for staff members and their household members, to help identify and find resources to solve personal problems which, if not resolved, could adversely affect the staff member’s job performance and quality of life. Full time staff members will be automatically enrolled in the Public Employees Retirement System (PERS) or the Teachers’ Pension Annuity Fund (TPAF). These pension plans are established to provide income during retirement years. Membership in these pension plans requires a payroll contribution at a rate that is determined by the State of New Jersey Division of Pensions and Benefits. Find out more by clicking here.
